As lived on Sunday, 15 October, 2023…
Praise and Worship…
The service started at 9:01am with jubilation and rejoicing. The ministration was anchored by Bro John Olalere singing the songs:
Kabi o osi baba…
Arise, take your place…
Olorun mo wa dupe…
Eda, eda, baba…
We go dey hail, hail your name…
Who has final say…
Hallelujah is the sound of victory…
The worship ended by 9:14am.
Prayer session…
The prayer session was led by Sis Mayowa Opadeji. She first of all enjoined us all to appreciate and account the Lord’s goodness and His graciousness to us as an individual. 1Peter 2:1-3. She charged the congregation to open their heart to God and ask for spiritual hunger, and deeper communion in the knowledge of Him.The session ended by 9:29am.
Choir Ministration…
Sis Chiamaka Sunday read the book of Ephesians 5:19. The ministration was in form of an orchestra whereby various musical instruments like keyboard, guitar, were being played and led by a conductor. The conductor was Bro Caleb Adetoye. The hymns rendered were:
Redemption Hymnal 113; Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty
RH 45; Be glad in the Lord and rejoice
In Christ alone my hope is found
The brethren sang along with Triumphant Voices. The session ended by 9:48am.
Hymn Ministration…
The President, Bro Timilehin Aderoju mounted up and asked us to welcome the person beside us. To introduce the minister, he asked us to sing “Ijinle ninu ijinle” and welcomed Elder and Mummy Niyi Fadipe. He then invited the minister Elder Niyi Fadipe, Tacsfon Western Zone Alumni Coordinator. The ministration started by 9:51am.
He started by explaining the importance of Hymns, emphasizing the need to bring back the singing of hymns in our churches because of its potency and the fact that it has stood over 200 years.
We opened Psalm 137 and sang the content of the psalm.
Points to note:
The children of Israel always sing songs that bring down the power of God. However, when they were in captivity in the land of Babylon, the Babylonians asked them to sing the songs of Zion for them but they refused because they would not sing the songs of ministration for entertainment.
If the children of Israel would be punished for singing the Lord’s songs in a strange land, what then will become of those who bring in the songs of strange land into Zion?
The reason why the songs of Zion are boring to us is that the power has been lost.
Hymns should be sang in whatever language that resonates most with you.
R.H 42: Magnify the Lord with me by C.H Morris
He gave a brief history on C.H Morris. She got blind at age 52 and this was when she started receiving the songs that later transited into hymns. A 17ft wide board was gotten for her and it was on this board that the wordings of the various hymns were written before being compiled. She is responsible for about 700 hymns, some of which are still being sung unto this day.
R.H 662: There’s no One like my Saviour by E.E Hewitt
R. God started his relationship with mankind through friendship with Abraham and his descendants, but with the dispensation of Jesus he continued with son-ship. Despite the prevailing relationship as a father, He is still to us a friend.
E.E Hewitt was born in 1820, and then composed the song at around 1871 whilst suffering from spinal imbalance.
R.H 369: Redeem’d How I love to Proclaim it by Fanny Crossby
Fanny Crosby otherwise known as the Mother of Hymns who in her lifetime composed up to 2000 hymns, many of which are still being sung today. She went blind at the age of 6weeks whilst being administered the wrong drug by a doctor. Despite all these, she was seen beautifully embracing her blindness proclaiming that when she got to heaven, Jesus would be the first person she sees. In between the hymn, we sang Olurapada mi seun ooo.
R.H 714: Come ye that Love the Lord by Isaac Watts
He, in his lifetime composed 750 hymns.
The minister prayed that the eyes of our understanding be made enlightened.
In Zion, the currency spent there is grace through faith.
Three legs in Zion: Deliverance, Holiness, Prosperity. (Obadiah: 1:17)
The session ended by 11:10am
