John 1:1-14
• The Word has been in existence since the beginning and it has been with God since the beginning.
• By the Word was everything made, therefore, there is nothing in this world that cannot be traced back to the Word.
• The Word gives light therefore outside the Word of God, there is no light and every one outside the kingdom of God walks in darkness.
• You are more greater than John, the Baptist because he confessed that he was not the Light but only came to bear witness of the Light. Whereas, the Light, himself has called you “the light of the world”.
• In verse 12, a power was introduced; the power to become the son of God. It is when you believe and receive Him, that is when you are given this ability, capacity (power) to become the son of God.
• There are two ways to claim an inheritance: the first, by natural birth; and the second, by adoption. We are given this inheritance into Christ by adoption.
• The Word was made flesh, the same that has been in existence since the beginning. (v14)
• Why then did the Word take on this human form? Galatians 4:4-5
Christ must first of all die for us to be redeemed.
For adoption to occur, there must first of all be redemption.
And after adoption is inheriting the son-ship and laying claim on the kingdom of God.
• A son that will inherit the kingdom of God will learn the culture of the kingdom.
• Jesus Christ is the Word of God made flesh. (vs17)
• The kingdom of God is reality and it is first of all in heaven and it must be expressed on earth. Matthew 6:10
Truth about the Kingdom of God
• The kingdom of God is revealed in mysteries. However, flesh and blood cannot reveal this mystery. If it is not revealed by God, it cannot be known by any man on earth.
• The kingdom of God will be forever. Mark 4:30-32
• In this kingdom, we’ve signed up for the life of pushing the plough. Giving up is not an option! Luke 9:62
• The kingdom of God requires effort and labour. Luke 13:24-29 (AMP, NLT). The effort and labour includes prayers and the word of God.
• Idolaters, the unrighteous, the effeminate, those listed in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10;15:50, Galatians 5:19-21, Ephesians 5:5 will not have a part in the kingdom of God.
The President called for two ushers to bring the banner for the theme for the second half of the semester. He then asked the congregation to be on their feet and open the book of Colossians 3:1-3.
He then revealed the theme which is “THE KINGDOM OF GOD”.
He emphasised that the theme of the first half of the session which was “RIGHTEOUSNESS” is what is needed to enter into the theme of the second half.
At this point, the banner was unveiled!
He then charged the congregation that the kingdom of God is not in dining and wining, but one which calls for labour. If you must possess this kingdom, you must grow from being babes to maturity. (Romans 14:17)
Prayer point: Lord, let your Kingdom start with me.
